stage one

The pilgrims gather in front of the Pilgrim's Hotel. We got off to a good start, but I had two flat tires on the British side of the English Channel, Giancarlo has one, and we lose two chains.

After much adversity, we finally got to the ferry at Dover. Now I know how David Copperfield felt when he ran away from his evil stepfather. The crossing of the English Channel was easy.

After we crossed the English Channel, I had two more flat tires. The Lord is trying to teach me patience, and the rest of the crowd how to deal with me patiently.

Finally, we reached our destination at the Abbey of Notre Dame, which was a beautiful convent. Sister Lucy was wonderful, serving us an interesting meal.  Afterward, we went to Compline with the Sisters, and then we prayed evening prayer. Unfortunately, we did not have any wine, and we could not celebrate Mass. A short easy day turned into a very difficult, frustrating day. But, thanks to the hospitality of Sister Lucy, it's finally ended well.

Sister Lucy served us breakfast in our villa in the morning, and we took off for stage two.
