Stage four

The host of the French B&B prepared for us a wonderful supper. He used all local products, including cheese and sausage and bread. Because we arrived here early, we were able to go to bed early, which all of us needed!

We enjoyed our best breakfast yet after Morning Prayer. In his reflection, Brad Gregory reminded us of the crucial role of the Blessed Virgin (Notre Dame) in French spirituality.

We rode an easy 10 miles into Reims, where we spent a lot of time at the Cathredal of Notre Dame.

Behind the Cathedrals of Notre Dame in Paris and Notre Dame in Chartres, this is the third most important Cathedral in France. King Clovis was baptized here on Chrismas Day, and most of the kings of France were crowned here.

The Cathredal dominates the city and is most impressive. TJ Ahearn would love the flying buttresses!

During World War II, the windows were removed from the cathedral. After the Second World War, not all the beautiful windows were returned. Marc Chagall did these windows .

After leaving Reims, we cycled through the area where the best grapes for Champaign are grown.

After lunch, Giancarlo made sure he had enough bread for the final thirty miles to our B & B.
