The weather was good, but cold. We prayed Morning Prayer, enjoyed a final breakfast, and packed up the van. Janet and her two new companions, Evonne and Marielle, are ready to support us.
We cannot possibly cycle this pilgrimage without the support of our fellow pilgrim servants in the van.
After the brutal ascent from the Swiss side, we enjoyed tearing down the Italian side. The scenery was spectacular!
Each of us descended at our own pace, with Paolo and Giancarlo leading the way. Paolo pointed that prayer can also be uplifting and exhilerating. We met at the bottom of the descent to shed our warm garments to ride in the warmer climate.
Both Janet and I are glad to have our brother, Tony, join us on our Pilgrimage.
We regroup to put our garments in the van, grab water and snacks, and continue our journey down the Aosta Valley. What a beautiful trip!
As we continue to descend through the valley, the wind shifts and blows right into our faces. Bill Corbett explains that this usually happens when riding with a priest! Here is Tony after his first Italian panino for lunch.
We cycle through Ivrea to arrive at the Agristurismo outside the city. An Agristurismo is the Italian version of a B&B, a working farm with a great accommodation for guests.
Ours is in a beautiful setting. After Mass, we watched Italy lose to Costa Rica in the World Cup. The Italians were not happy, but dinner was superb.
Thank you for sharing these wonderful pictures and comments, Fr. Bill. This is an amazing journey. Our prayers are with you as you continue.
